FAQ Teeth Whitening

Should I have a dental check up and clean prior to treatment?
Having a clean 2-6 weeks prior to treatment will give you the best results but isn't a necessity. If you have plaque build up it will also lighten but whitening clean teeth always looks best. We recommend seeing your local dentist/hygienist for checks and cleans at least every 12 months though to make sure your teeth are healthy enough for whitening.

Can I use the kit or have the treatment if my teeth are sensitive?
Yes you can! The great thing about home treatment is that you can control how much product you use. For our In House treatments our Dental Hygienist can use different strengths of whitening product to ensure you are comfortable.

What ingredients are in the Whitening gel?
The key ingredient for teeth whitening is Hydrogen Peroxide which is the active ingredient in our gels. The rest of the ingredients are: Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Deionized Water, Carbomer, Cellulose Gum, TEOA, PVP and Menthol. All products are registered with the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) and apply with Australian Standards Law.

When can’t I use your products?
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised not to use a home kit or have a whitening treatment. Also clients with existing crowns/caps, veneers or fillings on their front teeth should be aware that these will not change colour.
There is also a small amount of clients who may have internal staining of the tooth or antibiotic staining. We are happy to offer a consult with our Dental Hygienist if you are unsure.

Why Beauty Indulgence home kit over other kits?
Our kits use the same dental bleach that is used in actual dental clinics- which means guaranteed results. We also use a pen to deliver our bleach rather than a syringe. This way you're applying the product more directly equaling less wastage and better value. We keep our kits simple, with the necessities only. It was created for us by a Melbourne trained Dental Hygienist.

What is the benefit of a In Chair/House treatment?
Our In House treatment has many benefits. Let’s be clear- even using our home kit you will get great results! However, you need to use the kit a few days in a row initially and then you can maintain your new shade. With an In House home treatment your smile will be ready to shine after just an hour and then your home kit is just used for maintenance. Our home treatment is completed by our Dental Hygienist and she can use a higher strength bleach which is perfect for big events.

How long will my results last?
Results vary from person to person and your diet can influence the maintenance of your new shade. Most peoples results last 6 months, however, if you enjoy a lot of coffee, tea, curries or coloured drinks then you may find your teeth re-stain again and need a treatment every 3-4 months. Having a home kit and using it 1-2 times a fortnight will help maintain your new shade for longer and we always recommend this option.
